EECS Announcement

Bruce Tidor and Victor Zue accept EECS Faculty Appointments

June 12, 2001

[excerpt: Letter from John Guttag to faculty and staff]

The EECS Department is pleased to announce that Victor Zue and Bruce Tidor have each accepted faculty appointments in EECS. Each of them brings needed strength to an area of strategic importance to the department.

Many of you already know Victor. For many years now, he has been a professor in everything but title. He has led an extraordinarily successful research effort, turned out talented and superbly trained graduate students, and done a wonderful job teaching classes. Victor will be joining us as a Full Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and will continue to have his office in LCS.

Fewer of you know Bruce. Bruce is no stranger to MIT, having spent the last several years as a faculty member in the Chemistry Department. His research area is computational bio-chemistry, and he has a history of collaborating effectively with EECS faculty and graduate students. He is an excellent classroom teacher who has frequently lectured large subjects. Bruce's appointment will be as a tenured Associate Professor and will be dual with the division of Biological Engineering and Environmental Health (BEH).

Please join me in welcoming these extraordinarily talented individuals into the EECS community.
