Postdoctoral Lecturer Positions

December 27, 2001

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT has several openings for Postdoctoral Lecturers, beginning in September of 2002.

These positions are intended for recent PhD recipients who are interested in academic careers and who wish to gain teaching experience while enhancing their research portfolios. Appointments will normally cover two academic years. Appointees will have faculty-level teaching assignments, such as teaching sections in undergraduate subjects or sharing the lecturing and running of undergraduate or graduate subjects with experienced faculty, during each academic term. They will also be members of research groups in one of our interdepartmental laboratories, where they will collaborate with department faculty having related research interests.

The base stipend for these positions is expected to be between $68,000 and $73,000. This stipend covers the nine-month academic year and may be supplemented during the summer months when research funds are available.

Interested individuals should apply to the address below, describing their professional interests and their goals in both teaching and research. Each application should contain a curriculum vitae, a description of prior teaching experience, and an indication of the subjects the applicant would be interested in teaching. Applications should also include the names of any of our faculty with whom the applicant has discussed his or her plans, and identify any research group with which the applicant may be interested in working. Applicants should arrange to have two letters of recommendation sent to the same address. These letters should address both the candidate's research and teaching abilities. All candidates should indicate their citizenship and, in the case of non-US citizens, describe their visa status.

The deadline for applications for these positions is March 31, 2002.

Send all applications to:
